2001

02/06/01 The Louisiana, Bristol

Jonny Collins, Gregory Jones

An acoustic warm-up for the upcoming German tour. Broken strings, early start and depressing to be back at The Louisiana again but turned out to be fun and we went dancing afterwards.

13/06/01 Zauberbe, Wurzburg

Show cancelled because of inclement weather and it was supposed to be outdoors, however, on the day it was really sunny. Don't ask us.

14/06/01 Club2, Munich

Jonny Collins, Gregory Jones, Bernard Boogaloo (DJ)

Default first night of the tour. Great club and a lovely crowd although some were disappointed we didn't bring the full band. Played Boney M's "Heart Of Gold" much to everyone's disgust, if I could have found "Rasputin" I would have played that.

15/06/01 Ilses Erika, Leipzig

Jonny Collins, Gregory Jones, Bernard Boogaloo (DJ)

Made it back to my favourite club. Munchen-Leipzig is much further than I thought though. Love this place but we did have big sound problems.

16/06/01 ShipShape Club @ NBI, Berlin

Jonny Collins, Gregory Jones, Bernard Boogaloo (DJ)

Back in Berlin at a different venue. NBI is a brilliant club but with little in the way of equipment. In order to play with the one mic we had, we'd have had to stand in the doorway between the club and the toilet. Decision was made to do it without any amplification and everyone would just have to keep quiet. So it was little more than busking really, however it was fantastic to see people singing the songs. Met lots of old friends and some new ones too. David W.Brown also in attendance, just for the hell of it. Blaisemobile suffering weird wheel noises and a breakdown man was no help whatsoever, suggested we go to a Citroen dealer.

17/06/01 Tanzhalle St.Pauli, Hamburg

Another cancelled show. Some problem with the venue which I still don't really know about. Sorry if you came and we weren't there, we only found out the night before. This left us with days off before Dresden so we went back to Leipzig to get the Blaisemobile fixed. Helpful Citroen dealer said that we were dangerously close to death and, once he'd stopped laughing at a right hand drive car, fixed the problem for us. Those Eastern European roads are awful.

20/06/01 Madness, Dresden

Jonny Collins, Gregory Jones, Bernard Boogaloo (DJ)

Good to be back playing again after the break. I thought Dresden would be like Coventry but it isn't. This was a great bar in a funky district. Met some top folks, played some stupid records. By now, Gregory and I know what Bernard will play and so question his need to bring his entire collection. Hello to the bloke who asked for Joy Division at 3am, in retrospect that might have been a cry for help. I hope he's still alive.

21/06/01 Haus, Kassell

Jonny Collins, Gregory Jones, Bernard Boogaloo (DJ)

This place was like artist's studios, in fact it may well have been just that. Best food of the tour, scrambled egg and yoghurt. Got hassled by a pimp who didn't like Gregory leaning on the wall of his brothel.

22/06/01 Gummipop Festival, University Kulturcafe, Mainz

Jonny Collins, Gregory Jones, Bernard Boogaloo (DJ)

First show playing with other people, one of which was The Monochords with whom Bernard Boogaloo plays organ, for he has many talents. The Apricot Records triumvirate and acolytes were in attendance. Gregory lost his leather jacket, can he have it back please?

23/06/01 O25, Frankfurt

Jonny Collins, Gregory Jones, Bernard Boogaloo (DJ)

Last show of the tour. Played with Bronco Bullfrog but had to endure an hour's soundcheck FOR 2 GUITARS AND VOICES??? Finest Diskokugel in the whole of Germany but we didn't get a chance to DJ although M.Boogaloo managed about 30 mins. Our good friend Birgit from Berlin brought a group of trainee air stewardesses from Lufthansa along which Gregory and I were most excited about.

01/10/01 Poplove, Cafe Mono, Oslo

Jonny Collins solo acoustic show.

MB hit Scandinavia.Went to Oslo for the weekend and played on Monday night to a packed and appreciative Cafe Mono. No idea that there were so many MB fans in Norway but we love them. First ever playing of "Girls Just Wanna Dance" which will be on the next album. Ate reindeer. Again in a restaurant not just a passing example.
