11/03/93Modesty Blaise live for the first timeThe Mauretania, Bristol
David W.Brown and Jonny on stage for the first time as Modesty Blaise. Remarkable.
Jim Harvey on guitar and Mark Langley on keyboards, the first line-up was completed by Art Chalinder on drums but he's not in any of these photos.
Little changes in this band, same guitars, same drumskin, same clothes and even same gestures.
Here David W.Brown wields his axe. He's very good at this. And being tall.
Here's a set list, too small to see? Then I'll do you the service of typing it out. Blue & Beautiful (Modern Guitars With Amplification & single) Pretty Smart On My Part (Melancholia) February Forever Girl (Early prospective single-ended up a b-side and on Beginner's Guide) Don't Let Your Conscience Bother You (Country song, saving it for the country album!) Nothing Sacred (B-side of 1st single and on MGWA) Jennifer (And The People Who Married Her) (At the time, we thought it was going to be a single, became B-side to Uranium Girl) Starstruck (Kinks song from Village Green Preservation Society) Pop Star! (again we thought it would be a single but became B-side to Let's Get Together and on Beginner's Guide) Ocean County Blues (early set finisher from MGWA)
